Arrive
a few minutes
early so
that you
are relaxed
and prepared
to work.
Wear comfortable
clothes and
shoes with
hose.
Bring your
evening gown
shoes as
soon as you
have them.
Come prepared
with all
items required
for each
rehearsal.
Choose
an outfit
that you
are comfortable
in and
enjoy wearing.
Professional
attire such
as suits
(slacks or
skirts) or
nice daytime
dresses tend
to be good
choices.
Clean, simple
lines that
are not distracting
allow the
judge to
focus on
you, not
your clothing
or accessories.
Answer questions
from your
heart.
Brevity is
a virtue.
Roll play
with someone
you trust
to be honest
with you.
One first
generation
CD or tape
of the
music you
intend
to use
must be
turned
into pageant
staff at
first rehearsal.
Always have
a copy of
your music
with you
at rehearsal.
Clothing
or costumes
should compliment
the talent
being displayed.
Props should
be simple
and easy
to move on
and off the
stage quickly.
Should not be used as a political platform.
References to God and religion should be minimized.
Brevity is definitely a virtue.
Upbeat, motivational, honest and perceptive.
Practice, Practice, Practice.
Choose
a gown
well suited
to both
your body
style and
personality.
Color, glamour
and flash
are good.
Gowns should
not require
a lot of
assistance
to get into
or out of.
Look for
a gown that
accentuates
your best
features.
Posture,
Posture,
Posture.
You will
be on your
feet at
some point
during
each part
of the
pageant
judging,
be
sure that
shoes fit
comfortably
and are supportive.
Heels should
be moderate
height, not
higher than
you normally
wear.
Do not wear
shoes such
as mules
or slings,
they come
off very
easily.
If you choose
to wear sandals
they must
have straps
that buckle
securely.
Break in
shoes well
in advance
of the pageant.
Shoes that
provide full
support are
best, you
will be on
your feet
a lot on
the day of
the pageant.
All outfits
should
be viewed
as a complete
look, well
coordinated
- not distracting.
Sparkling jewelry and accessories are great! Sparkling skin is not! Do not use any skin products that have glitter or create excessive shine. (From where the judges are sitting and under the stage lights it just looks like you are perspiring.)
Purchase appropriate undergarments for your outfits, you do not want to be worried about straps or slips that show when you are on stage. Try to avoid things that have to pinned into place after you dress, you won't have time for it at the pageant.
Energizing
pantyhose
with a
high LYCRA
content
are best.
They are
run resistant
and do
not sag
or bag
at the
ankles.
They also
provide
support,
and are
very smooth
to help
clothing
hang appropriately.
(L’eggs
Sheer Energy
are some
of the
least expensive)
All pageant
outfits need
to be easy
to change
in and out
of.
Be Yourself! Choose things that you like and are comfortable wearing.
Be on time, always. Treat the other contestants and pageant staff as though every minute of their time is just as important to you as your own is.
