The private
interview
is a chance
for the
judges
to learn
as much
as
possible
about the
qualities
and attributes
that a contestant
offers to
the role
of Ms. Senior
Arizona.
The judges
will be assessing
her abilities
to fulfill
the job,
to serve
as a role
model, to
present a
positive
image of
aging, and
to have enthusiasm
for life
and a commitment
to the community.
Each contestant
will appear
before
the panel
of judges
for a timed
5 minute
interview
period.
The judges
are expected
to ask
questions
that will
provoke
thoughtful
answers,
and display
depth of
character.
They may
ask any
type of
question
and are
free to
use the
contestant's
biography
as a guide.
Questions will be presented in a press conference style, judges will not be offering "ice breaking" conversation. Be prepared to begin answering questions right from the start. Judges should each be asking questions but are not required to do so in any order, any judge may ask any question at any time. A pageant official will be in the interview room at all times and timing will be strictly enforced.
Contestants need to be aware of the need to provide thoughtful but reasonably brief replies, the judges only have 5 minutes and they will want to cover a variety of questions. Try not to engage in long-winded storytelling and be aware of the level of detail in responses.
